Grading the Titans 2025 NFL Draft
The NFL draft has come and gone now. A new batch of rookies will be asked to play a significant role in helping to turn around a Titans team that only won 3 games the season prior. The Titans Front Office staff had a long 3 days working the phones and maneuvering throughout the draft to score talent on each side of the field. With the upcoming season Coach Callahan will be looking for big time help from the rookie class below. Here’s the my grade and analysis for each Titans pick.
Cam Ward QB Miami: A
After all these months it was painfully obvious that the Titans were going to select Cam Ward overall. Really, you can look at it and say it wasn’t even close for any other prospect. The Titans had Cam Ward as the #1 player on their board. Given the positional value of QB that makes a ton of sense. Otherwise, one would merely tab new Jacksonville Jaguar Travis Hunter as the top player from the draft. Regardless, the Titans have what they consider to be the franchise QB. Ward has shown he can adapt and play at a high level from being a zero star recruit, two years at Incarnate Word, 2 years at Wazzu, and just last year at Miami. Each stop for Ward better than the last as he honed his skills and wound up being the first player taken in the draft.

Oluwafemi Oladejo EDGE UCLA: B-
Femi Oladejo was a one year starter at OLB at UCLA. He racked up 4.5 sacks last year with 13 TFL. He’s only 21 years old and there’s potential for him to grow into a good pass rusher. Oladejo didn’t score particularly well at the combine after only participating in three events: Broad Jump: 10’, Vert: 36.5, and Bench: 20. Femi did have a great Senior Bowl week which is what probably caught the Titans’ eyes as they were coaching the National team.
#UCLA EDGE Femi Oladejo. 6’3, 259.

Explosive, raw athlete. Surprisingly strong and stout at the POA. Tools to mold.

Kevin Winston Jr Safety Penn St: C+
Given that quite a few players that the Titans were probably interested in— ahem, Jaylen Noel — and others went before the Titans could pick the Titans selected Kevin Winston out of Penn State. The 6’1 215lb Junior put up some great tape the last 3 years before tearing his ACL in week 2. However, this pick for the Titans is about upside. I don’t necessary like taking a risk on injured and unproven players but I see the allure. Amani Hooker is going into the last year in his contract and the Titans desperately have been looking for a replacement for the past two years at Safety. Winston has an opportunity to get a solid amount of snaps early on at Safety if he can fully recover from his injury.
Kevin Winston Jr. is an awesome pick. 39 on my board. Wrote about him a couple weeks ago: https://t.co/JHZ94izCTX pic.twitter.com/P4gxAuy3Yk

Chimere Dike WR Florida: D
I’ll admit that I had no idea that Dike was even a prospect on the board or even one the Titans would be intrigued by. Dike has not shown consistent growth year to year and hasn’t developed a route-tree yet. At Florida he wasn’t asked to develop but to run deep. His 6’1 200lb frame combined with his sub 4.4 speed allowed him to get past defenders. He accumulated 42 receptions, 783 yards, and 2 TDs. Raw is putting it lightly for Dike who was the first WR taken by the Titans in the draft. Given that other players at the position were still available this looks like a reach by Brinker/Borgonzi
Chimere Dike posted a BLAZING 9.80 RAS that included a 4.34 40 and 38.5” vert at 6’1, 196lbs…

But how’s the tape? Well…
➖ good blocker
➖ legit speed
➖ route running nuance
➖ slot/boundary versatility
➖ solid route tree
➖ special teams prowess
Versatile day 3 player. pic.twitter.com/wBo3AginRY
Gunnar Helm TE Texas: B+
Helm grew into a starting role his senior season with the Longhorns. He put up 60 receptions and 786 yards for 7 TDs. Helm isn’t very athletic, especially after running a 4.87 40, but he does find a way to get the ball in between defenders. At 6’5 and 241 pounds he’s a bit undersized at that height. Regardless, he finds ways to make plays. The Titans are a bit stacked at TE with: Chig, Whyle, Martin Robinson, and Odukoya so it will be interesting to see how the Titans handle the TE room going forward.
Cam Ward is gonna love having a TE like Gunnar Helm 👀

Elic Ayomanor WR Stanford: A+
For reasons unbeknownst Ayomanor who was once projected to go high day 2 wound up in the back end of the 4th round for the Titans. Ayomanor has had a solid career with the Stanford Cardinals. This past year he had 63 receptions, 1022 yards, and 6 TDs. The 6’2 205lb Ayomanor has good but not great size. He ran a 4.4 40 at the combine and added a 38.5” vertical. He reminds me a lot of Michael Pittman who can use his body to shield defenders from the ball with his large wingspan and be a solid WR. This is a stellar pick for the Titans and he should see immediate work on the field with Ward.

2 Seasons at Stanford:
1844 Yards
12 Touchdowns
125 receptions
And oh, 13 receptions 300 yards 3 TDs against the 2nd overall pick and division rival, Travis Hunter.

Jackson Slater OG/C Sacramento State: B
Once you get to these backend guys it’s mostly about finding fits and diamonds in the rough. Slater is 6’3 311 and will be learning behind one of the best Offensive Guards in recent history in Kevin Zeitler. In addition, Slater might play some at Center while Cushenberry is recovering from his torn achilles. Slater had a great season last year and followed that up with a great showing at the Senior Bowl. He’s definitely a pick for the future as he shouldn’t see much action going into this season behind either Skoronski or Zeitler.
Jackson Slater was DOMINANT in college.

1st team All-American. Over the past two seasons:
877 pass blocking snaps
0 sacks allowed
1 QB hit allowed
Guard/center flexibility. Here’s a rep against 1st rounder Walter Nolen.

Marcus Harris CB Cal: D
I don’t really understand this pick. Harris has played 6 years in CFB and has not developed into the Corner one would expect being 24 years old. He had 2 interceptions last year to go along with 46 tackles. The best thing you could say about him is he ran a 4.45 at the combine. At the end of the day Harris will be fighting for a roster spot and I don’t think he could beat out Gabe Jeudy-Lally at present. This seems more like a camp body pick than anything else.
Kalel Mullings RB Michigan: B
The Titans don’t necessarily need another RB unless it’s to beat out Tyjae Spears or supplant Tony Pollard for next year. In saying that Mullings looks like he could end up on the back end of the Titans 53 or be relegated to the Practice Squad and could be called up given injuries. Mullings is an interesting player for the first 3 years at Michigan he played both LB and RB. He certainly has the size at 6’1 and 225 lbs to be a tweener. Mullings plays with the physicality one would expect from a Big 10 RB. He had 948 rushing yards and 12 TDs last year for the Wolverines.
Kalel Mullings is a beast at 6-2 226. Took the starting job from much-hyped Donovan Edwards at Michigan this year and almost singlehandedly beat USC.

The thumper that they wanted to complement Tony Pollard and Tyjae Spears.pic.twitter.com/WEoGXHNGdZ
The Titans had a limited number of picks to begin the draft and found a way to end the draft with 9 selections. Much of this draft class will end up playing early and often due to the lack of depth or talent one would expect for the worst team in the league. The Titans by default look to have snagged 4 starters in the draft: Ward, Oladejo, Winston Jr, and one of Dike or Ayomanor. The Titans will need more than just roster fillers for this to be considered a good draft. Obviously it’s too early to tell how the draft has shaped up, but for now the Titans have their guys for the 2025 NFL season.
Overall: B+
