CBB Recruiting: Tennessee adds Dewayne Brown to the 2025 class

Tennessee received a commitment from the number-one-ranked basketball recruit in Alabama over the weekend. 2025 Four-star big man DeWayne Brown chose the Volunteers over Mississippi State Saturday afternoon on Instagram Live. Rick Barnes having just led Tennessee to an SEC Championship and the school’s 2nd Elite 8 appearance is wasting no time preparing for the future in getting the verbal commitment from DeWayne Brown out of Hoover, AL. Brown was given the Class 7A Mr. Basketball award after helping lead Hoover to a 30-3 record and a 7 AHSAA State Championship.

According to on3.com, The 6-foot-10 250 lb. big man ranks as the 109th player and 16th best center in the country. The big man makes his presence known in and around the paint, having a physical presence on offense and defense. He makes for good competition against teams that look to feed the post, as Brown has shown relentless physicality and a stellar shot-blocking ability. His outstanding play got him over 30 D1 offers. The kid looks to build on this in his Senior season attempting to lead Hoover to back-to-back State Championships.

After adding its first commitment in the 2025 class, the Volunteers look to be a juggernaut in the SEC for years to come.
