Code’s Corner: Vols advance to Sweet 16 and other news

The Tennessee Volunteers Men’s basketball team took the court in the Round of 32 against the Texas Longhorns on Saturday evening. In this game Tennessee could not get the ball to fall in their favor, to say the least. The Vols ended the game with a rough 3-25 performance from 3-point range with 2 of those coming late in the game. Overall the Vols shot 22-65, one of the worst performances of the year. With all that being said you would assume the Vols got their faces stomped in and got eliminated right? WRONG! Even with the terrible performance on the offensive end, the defense willed them to this win! It is March Madness after all. That’s why they say “Survive and advance”. The Vols will take on Creighton in the Sweet 16 on Friday.

On top of that, the Lady Vols DOMINATED Green Bay in their tournament match up punching their ticket to the round of 32 against NC State on Monday afternoon! Kellie seems to have a different fire lit under these ladies for the tournament as they push through to advance to the next round. Tune in and support them! (Yes, that is coming from me willingly)

The BaseVols dropped one game against Ole Miss on Saturday, but the games on Friday and Sunday were an absolute homerun derby from start to finish with both games ending in a “run rule” after 7 innings! The next game up is against Tennessee Tech on Tuesday at LNS!

The Lady Vols Softball team played well all weekend against South Carolina squeaking a close one out late on Saturday and winning Sunday’s rubber match 7-0. Around other sports this weekend the Ice Vols Hockey team lost Saturday in a shoot-out with South Carolina. But, bounced back on Sunday with a 4-2 win against Georgia. #HockeyTop has a great squad this year and you should take some time and give them a watch. Almost every one of their matches is broadcast live on YouTube.
